Mentoring Programme Development

Rangatahi Māori (Māori Youth) in the Bay of Plenty region make up approximately 44% of all the young people. By 2030, Māori and Pacifika are estimated to make up 30% of the workforce age population, and this is expected to increase to 50% by 2050. Investing in our rangatahi now is critical to the continued development of our thriving Māori communities, which is a key objective for Toi Kai Rawa.

A key focus for us at Toi Kai Rawa, is to connect Rangatahi Māori in the Bay of Plenty, to meaningful programmes and initiatives, to help create the futures they desire to thrive.

To help us better understand what Rangatahi goals for the future are, Toi Kai Rawa has been undertaking focus groups with rangatahi across the wider Bay of Plenty together with a survey to help us identify;

  • Rangatahi Māori aspirations
  • Rangatahi Māori challenges, and barriers
  • What ideal support might look like for Rangatahi Māori

We believe every interaction with our Rangatahi is an opportunity to make a difference.
