Born and raised in Whanganui, Jay relocated to Tauranga Moana with his young whānau almost a decade ago. Since then, he has pursued opportunities to build connection and capability in the community, with a specific focus on working with rangatahi.
Jay has a background in career and community development, working across education, industry and local government sectors. He is passionate about improving holistic wellbeing and is involved in multiple groups and projects dedicated to individual growth and learning.
In his role as lead for Hihiko Te Rawa Auaha, Jay works with kura, tauira and their whānau to improve digital access, culture and capability across the region. Collaborating with various individuals and organisations to address gaps in these areas, Jay envisions a future where Māori and other underrepresented groups redefine global work and education and positively disrupt the status quo.
